LINE OFFICER PROFILES

Chief Tyler Millix has been a member since 1987 and an officer since 1992.  He has been the Chief for the last 6 years.  He is a certified EMT, Firefighter I and Public Safety Telecommunicator.  Tyler was our #12 responder in 2003 with a total of 267 volunteer calls.  Tyler is the Chief Emergency Dispatcher for the Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Dispatch Center. Prior to his appointment as Chief Dispatcher he served as the Union President of IAFF Local 3841. Tyler is the Search Commander for the Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service Search and Rescue organization.  Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational, Arson & Fire Photography, Rural Tactical Operations,       Recognizing and Identifying Hazardous Materials and Incident Command System.
Deputy Chief David Woodworth has been a member since 1989 and an officer since 1991.  He is a certified Paramedic, Firefighter I and Physician Assistant. He was our #10 responder in 2003 with a total of 127 calls.  Dave has many years of experience in the health care field starting with being a surgical assistant in the Navy and then at St. Francis Hospital and Johnson Hospital.  Classes taken: Hazmat Awareness and Operational, Arson & Fire Photography, Open Water Diver and Incident Command System.

 

Asst. Chief Andy Gray has been a member since 1985.  He is a certified Paramedic and Firefighter II.  Andy was our #15 responder in 2003 with a total of 103 calls. Andy trained to be a paramedic while serving as a corpsman in the Navy and previously worked as a paramedic in New Hampshire and at Windham Hospital. Andy is currently working as a firefighter at the Groton Submarine Base.  Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational, Blood borne Pathogens: Train the Trainer

Captain Bill Bartholomew has been a member since 1991. He is a certified Firefighter I, EMT and a member of the Tolland County Dive Team.  He was our #5 responder in 2003 with 196 calls.  Bill holds the rank of Third Engineer for the department. Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational.   

 

Captain Stuart Cobb has been a member since 1988 and an officer since 1991.  He is a certified EMT, Fire Officer I, Fire Service Instructor I, Firefighter III, Pump Operator and Hazmat Technician. Lieutenant Jeff Pierce  has been a member since 1989. He is a certified EMT-Intermediate, Firefighter I and CPR Instructor. He was our #29 responder in 2003 with 39 volunteer calls. Jeff has been a full-time employee here since 1993. Classes attended:  Hazmat Awareness and Operational, Managing the Lost Person Incident, Blood borne Pathogens: Train the Trainer, Cold Water Rescue, Liquid Petroleum Gas, Flashover Survival Class.
Lieutenant Matt Brink has been a member since 1990.  He is certified as a Firefighter I and is an EMT  Matt was our #18 responder for the year of 2003 with a total of 91 calls. Matt is a full-time dispatcher for the Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Dispatch center.  Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational.
Safety Officer Bruce Carlson has been a member since 1988 and an officer since 1991.  He is a certified MRT, Firefighter II and is currently the department Safety Officer.  He was our #9 responder in 2003 with a total of 141 calls.  He was previously a member of Warehouse Point Fire Dept. from 1971-1978 and is still a member of the Pratt & Whitney Volunteer Fire Brigade, where he works.  Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational.

Jennie Anderson has been a member since 2001. She just finished her EMT class and is currently working at Johnson Memorial Hospital as a patient care technician.  Jennie was our #19 responder in 2003 with 85 calls. 
Engineer Jim Arsenault has been a member since 1982. He is a certified Firefighter I and a former MRT and Lieutenant. He was our #17 responder in 2003 with 97 calls. Classes attended:  Incident Command System, Hazmat Awareness, Rapid Intervention Teams and Pump Operator.  Jim is self-employed as a locksmith
Ned Beebe has been a member since 2000. He is a certified EMT (since 1981). He was our #66 responder in 2003 with 1 call. He has been a member and officer of the Willington Hill Fire Department for many years.  Ned owns and operates Willington Termite and Pest Control.
Lauren Cefaratti has been a member since 2001. She is a certified EMT and CPR-Instructor. Lauren is our #8 responder in 2003 with154 calls.  Lauren is attending Manchester Community College for her Respiratory Therapy degree.  Lauren also attended a class in Mass Casualty and Incident Command.
Matthew Chiarizio has been a member since 2001.  Matt was the #30 responder for 2003 with 38 calls.   He is currently a MRT  Matt is attending Windham Technical High School studying to be an electrician.

Catherine Dimeola has been a member since 2000. She is a certified EMT. Cathy was our #43 responder in 2003 with 20 calls.  Cathy is a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association and a former nurse.  Classes attended:  12 lead ECG, boat smart program.   

Del Ekenbarger has been a member since 1998. He is a certified E.M.T.-Intermediate and Firefighter II.  He was our #48 responder in 2003 with 14 calls.  Del is a long-time member and Captain in the Willington Hill Fire Department. Del works for the University of Connecticut Fire Department.
Brian Elton has been  a member since 1972. He is a certified Firefighter III and a former EMT.  Brian is a lifetime member of our department.  Classes attended: Hazmat awareness, Hurst jaws of life, rural water supply operation, life star safety, ice rescue and basic repelling.
Alan Ference has been a member since 1993.  He is a certified EMT and Fire fighter I. He was our #55 responder for the year 2003 with 7 calls.  Classes attended: Hazmat Operational and Rural Tactical Operations.
Engineer Dan Foran has been a member since 1999.  His certifications include: EMT-B, CPR-Instructor and Hazmat Awareness. Dan is a student at Capital Community College where he is pursuing his certification as a Paramedic.  Dan also attended a class in Mass Casualty and Incident Command.  He also works for American Medical Response. Dan was the #2 responder for the year of 2003 with 280 calls.
William Foran has been a member since 1993. He is a certified EMT and Firefighter I. He was our #38 responder in 2003 with a total of 23 calls. Bill was previously a member of the Willington Hill Fire Dept. He works for Marlyn Construction as a mason tender.  Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational.
Mark Forkey has been a member since 2001.  He was our #54  responder for the year 2003 with 8 calls.

Melissa Gaudette is a new member who is currently enrolled in an EMT class.  She is an employee of Johnson Memorial Hospital working as a Patient Care Assistant in the Critical Care Unit. She was our #41 responder for the year of 2003 with 22 calls.

Ron Gantick has been a member since 1977 and an officer since 1978. Ron was Deputy Chief for 10 years before becoming Chief in 1992.  He is a certified EMT (since 1978) and Firefighter I.  Ron works as a full-time property manager.  Classes attended: Hazmat Operational and Incident Command System. Ron has now retired from the officer position but remains an active fire fighter in the department. Ron was the #26 responder in 2003 with 43 calls.

Jeremiah Gilmour has been a member since 2000. He was our #22 responder in 2003 with 60 calls. He is currently an EMT.  He attended Windham Tech and majored in Culinary Arts.  Jeremiah is currently attending a college in Burlington, Vermont for Culinary Arts.
Nicole Guglielmo has been a member since 2002. She was our # 4 Responder for the year of 2003 with 252 calls. Nicole is a 911 Dispatcher for Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service. Her certifications include: EMT-B, Fire Fighter I, and Hazmat Awareness. Classes attended: Flashover Survival, Firefighter Safety & Survival, Engine Company Operations, CPAT Orientation and Life Star Safety.. Nicole is currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree at the University of Connecticut.
Kim Harrison has been a member since 1998. She is a certified E.M.T, Fire Fighter I, CPR Instructor and  an open water diver.  Kim was our #32 responder in 2003 with a total of 36 calls.   Classes attended:  Hazmat Awareness.  Kim is currently attending Saint Josephs College in West Hartford for her degree in Nursing. 
Steve Harrison has been a member since 1988.  He is a certified Firefighter I  and is a former EMT and Assistant Chief.  Steve was our #27 responder in 2003 with a total of 43 calls. Steve works in the shop at Nutmeg International in Hartford. Classes attended: Hazmat Awareness and Operational. 

Ben Jones has been a member since 2000. He was our #16 responder in 2003 with 103 calls. He is a M.R.T but currently going to class to become an EMT.

Lowell Karpuska has been a member since 1997.  He is a certified EMT, Fire Officer I, Fire Service Instructor I, Firefighter III, Hazmat Technician, Combi-Tube & Epi-Pen Instructor, and is currently the department Training Officer. He was our #7 responder in 2003 with a total of 161 volunteer calls. Lowell was previously a member of the Tolland Fire Department from 1988-1997 where he also served as a Lieutenant. He is currently a part time-employee here.  He is a Deputy Commander with the Tolland County Dive Team and has certificates as an Open Water Scuba Instructor, Dive Master, Master SCUBA Diver, Rescue Diver, Dive Rescue Specialist I, Night Diver, Equipment Specialist Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Deep Diver, Research Diver and Ice Diver. Bruce Kaufman is a paramedic with many years of experience with both volunteer and commercial EMS providers. Bruce was our #33 responder in 2003 with a total of 31 calls.
Mike Kenderdine has been a member since 2003. He has 17 years of Fire/EMS experience with the Staffordville Fire Department. Mike was also Rescue Lieutenant for five years, as well as Rescue Captain for five years in Staffordville Fire Department.  His current certifications include: Fire Fighter I, EMT.  Classes attended: PADI Advanced Open Water-I SCUBA, Hazmat Operational, Incident Command Systems, Basic Vehicle Rescue, LPG Emergencies, Chimney Fires, FF Safety and Survival, Jaws of Life Extrication Specialist, Extrication Airbag, Burning Building Collapse and Basic Pump Operator. Mike is the owner/operator of Mihaliak Trucking with his wife Lisa. Mike was the #21 responder in 2003 with 66 calls.
Lisa Kenderdine has been a member since 2003. She has 15 year of fire/EMS experience with the Staffordville Fire Department. Lisa was an EMS Lieutenant for 8 years and an EMS captain for 1 year with Staffordville Fire Department.  Her current certifications include: Fire Fighter I, EMT-D, CPR-Instructor, Hazmat Ops, PADI Open Water-I, FF Safety and Survival, and Jaws of Life Extrication Specialist. Lisa is the owner/operator of Mihaliak Trucking with her husband Mike. She is a part time Professor at Manchester Community College, and a part time Surgical Technician at Constitution Eye Surgery Center in Newington CT.  She is also currently pursuing her RN degree. Lisa was the #44 responder for 2003 with 20 calls.
Alan Kneeland has been a member since 2003.  He is a MRT  Alan attends Windham Tech as a freshman. Alan was the #40 responder in 2003 with 23 calls.

Mike Kneeland joined our department in 2001.  He was our #1 responder in 2003 with 361 calls. He is a certified MRT and Fire Fighter I.  Mike is a graduate of Windham Tech majoring in machine tool. 

Michael Kozyra has been a member since 2001. He is a certified Firefighter I and EMT.  Mike was our #53 responder in 2003 with 8 calls.
Ryan Lapointe is a student at UConn and has been a member since 2002. His current certifications include: EMT-B.  Ryan is also a member of the Winsted Volunteer Ambulance Association. Ryan was the #47 responder in 2003 with 16 calls.
Matt Neilson is a recently joined member who is aspiring to enroll in Fire/EMS classes. He was the #59 responder in 2003 with 5 calls.
Mike Oehler joined our department in 2000.  He is a certified E.M.T. and Firefighter I.  He was our #52 responder in 2003 with 10 calls. Mike is also a Lieutenant in the Willington Hill Fire Department. 

John Patton has been a member since 2000. He is a certified Firefighter I. He was our #65 responder in 2003 with 1 call. John has been a member of the Willington Hill Fire Department since 1992 and is also a Selectman for the Town of Willington.

John Peters has been a member since 2000.  He is a certified E.M.T. (since 1982) and Firefighter I.  He was our #39 responder in 2003 with 23 calls. John was a long-time member and officer in the Willington Hill Fire Department and is a retired schoolteacher.
Justin Risley has been a member since 2002.  He is an EMT.  Justin attends Tolland High School and is currently a Senior.  Justin was previously a member of the Tolland Explorer Post before joining our department. Justin was the #6 responder in 2003 with 167 calls.
Daniel Saunders has been a member since 2002. He is a certified MRT  Dan decided to join the department shortly after his son did (Justin Risley). Dan was the #34 responder in 2003 with 30 calls.
Jennifer Sharpe-Coles has been a member since September 2001.  She was the department's #36 responder for 2003 with 26 calls.  Jen is a certified Firefighter II and EMT.   Jen is also a CPR instructor and is the information officer for the Tolland County Dive Team, and assistant information officer for the search & rescue team.    She is also a member of the Crystal Lake Fire Department.  Jen was one of the crew members that assisted in the delivery of the departments first baby in 15 years. Classes taken: Hazardous Materials Operations and Confined Space Rescue.
Jeffrey Smith has been a member since 2002 and is also a member of the Willington Hill F.D.  He has recently taken the EMT class and is currently enrolled in Firefighter I.  He was our # 13 responder for 2003 with 107 calls.
Thomas Smith has been a member since 1996. He is an EMT,  Fire Officer I, Fire Service Instructor I. He was our #24 responder in 2003 with a total of 58 calls. Tom used to be a Deputy Fire Marshal for the Town of Willington and was a long time member and officer in the Willington Hill Fire Department.  Tom works as a full-time Emergency Dispatcher for the Tolland County Mutual Aid Dispatch Center.  Classes attended: Vehicle Fires, Hazmat Operational, Air Bag Rescue, Handling Reactive, Explosive & Unknown Hazardous Materials Emergencies, Ice Rescue, Rural Water Supply, Ventilation/Salvage, LP Gas, Emergency Vehicle Rescue, Basic Recognition of Hazardous Materials, Hurst Tool, Basic Rappelling and Rescue, Recognizing and Identifying Hazardous Materials, Large Diameter Hose, Gasoline Tank Truck Emergency Response, and Firefighter Safety.
Tom Snyder has been a member since1996. He is a certified EMT and Firefighter II.  He was our #64 responder for 2003 with 1 call.  Tom is currently the Deputy Chief of the Willington Hill Fire Department.   Classes attended:  Hazmat Operational. 
Rick Soucy has been a member since 1992.  He is a certified EMT, Firefighter II and also belongs to the Eagleville Department. He was our #42 responder in 2003 with a total of 21 calls. Rick is a self-employed contractor.  Classes attended:  Incident Safety Officer, Incident Command System, LPG Fires, Burning Building Collapse and Firefighter Safety, Pneumatic Rescue, Extrication, Chimney Fires, Hazmat Awareness and Operational, Pump Operation.
Chris Stutz has been a member since 2001.  He was our #3 responder in 2003 with 258 calls.  He is a certified EMT.  Chris is a Senior at Tolland High School and was formerly a member of the Tolland Explorer Post.

John Tennant has been a member since 2000.  He is a certified Firefighter I and is an EMT. He was our #25 responder in 2003 with 54 calls.

Brian Vesely has been a member since 1981.  He is a certified Firefighter II.  He was our #63 responder in 2003 with a total of 2 calls.  Brian works as a driver for Village Springs Distributors.  Classes attended:  Hazmat Awareness and Operational and Incident Command System
Kristen Wesoly has been a member since 2003 and has completed her EMT certification.  Kristen is attending UConn as a nursing major and is also a member of Harwinton, CT Fire/EMS. She was our #49 responder in 2003 with 12 calls.
Kristen Watson has been a member of our department since 2003. Her current certifications include: EMT-I. She is a nursing student at the University of Connecticut and an employee of Hartford Hospital. She was our #35 responder in 2003 with 27 calls.
Bob Wiecenski has been a member since 1967.  He was our #37 responder in 2003 with a total of 24 calls.  Bob served as Treasurer of the department for 29 years, from 1967 through 1996.  He was also a Lieutenant for many years.  Bob has retired from the University of Connecticut.  Classes attended:  Hazmat Awareness and Operational.
Derrick Wiecenski has been a member since 1985. He is a certified EMT, Firefighter II, Hazmat Technician and Scuba Diver.  He was our #31 responder in 2003 with a total of 37 calls.  Derrick is a driver for Fedex.  Classes attended: Incident Command System, Basic Vehicle Rescue, Hydraulic Rescue, Pneumatic Rescue, Hurst Tool, Crash Fire Rescue, Chimney Fires, LPG Fires, Hazmat Awareness and Operational.
